A friend forwarded the article below (well, below the YourNewPuppyLLC advertisement) to me. Thought I'd share.
Ohio = home of puppy mil...*ahem* ...brokers, water towers, and orange barrels.
Now tell me, what is the difference between what you find at Petland and what you find at YourNewPuppyLLC? Just wondering. If someone knows of a difference, please please please post it in the comments section. Oh wait, I know one difference! Petland allows buyers to get the dog examined within a week; YourNewPuppyLLC encourages an examination within 3 days (not including weekends and holidays).
And since when can you put a dog on layaway? If you can't afford to purchase the dog in the beginning, what makes you think you can buy the food, toys, beds, etc along with paying the vet for a few visits within the first year?
Here is an ad in the Lebanon local newspaper.

Local Petland stores are being implicated in a new round of allegations aimed by the Humane Society of the United States against the store chain.
The society says it has evidence that 15,000 puppies were shipped from “massive commercial puppy brokers” — sometimes called “puppy mills” — to more than 95 percent of Petland stores “in the past few months,” the organization said today, June 29.
In particular, the society is pointing to Petland stores in Beavercreek, Butler Twp., Piqua and Fairfield.
Regarding a Petland store at 4468 Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek, the society alleges that the store “received shipments from a massive Missouri puppy broker, the Hunte Corp., in 2009.”
The society also contends that a Petland store at 3444 York Commons Blvd., Butler Twp., received puppies from Hunte as well as shipments from “out-of-state” sellers who have been cited for Animal Welfare Act violations.”
Additionally, the society says a Petland store at 1212 E. Ash St. in Piqua received puppies from Hunte. The organization is making a similar allegation against a Petland store in Butler County’s Fairfield.
In March, the society filed a class-action lawsuit against Chillicothe-based Petland Inc. and Hunte. Two months later, both companies asked a federal judge to toss out the suit, denying that they sold unhealthy puppies to consumers or broke any federal racketeering and corruption or fraud laws.
The society charges that Hunte, acting as a “middleman animal dealer,” keeps animals in cages that are too small, selling some 80,000 puppies each year from “hundreds of different kennels and puppy mills.”
In papers filed in federal court last month, Hunte said it is committed to the welfare of animals and seeks to provide “the absolute best care possible to every single puppy.”
In a March statement, a Petland vice president said his company provides its puppies “strict veterinary care and supervision.” The company said each puppy it sells is examined by a licensed veterinarian before it arrives at stores, getting another exam before sold puppies go home with new owners. Additionally, the chain said it encourages new owners to have pets examined again within a week after purchase.
A message was left with a Petland spokeswoman this morning. Another message seeking comment was left with Hunte President Steve Rook.
